Description

Forézienne MFLS was initially a manufacturer of ribbon blades for wood cutting. It then developed to other tools such as accessories and furniture manufacturing tools and to services such as maintenance.

It proposes a global offering composed of services including a study of the customers’ needs, the supply of cutting tools, maintenance and logistics. In parallel, Forézienne MFLS has developed a technique to improve cutting efficiency.

Their turnkey offer is to sell the right to use the products rather than sell the products themselves.

Qualitative benefits

  • The company stands out for its complete offer and its technology.
  • Proposing a complete offering makes it possible to better understand customers’ needs, making it easier to organize production and stock management, and allows them to be more responsive to requests.
  • A partnership relationship develops with customers because of the length of the contract and complete support for their sawing needs.

Stages of the initiative

Providing a global offer is the logical next step for the company. For fifteen years it has been providing a service offering that has been developing over time.

In parallel, it has developed its own technique that allows it to increase cutting efficiency.

In 2015, the company benefited from support as part of the Action RELIEF "Rhône-Alpes l’Innovation par l’Economie de fonctionnalité (Rhône-Alpes innovation through functional economics) (RELIEF Pilot and Swarming)".

Customers have a wide variety of cutting tools, so there are many types of blades with maintenance customized for each. To consolidate the offer, one challenge is to standardize tools and blades. Another challenge is to rationalize logistics, because the service requires regular trips to customers’ premises.
